Geneva - Phelps - Gorham

37 miles; easy cycling
Level terrain with very gently rolling hills
County map: Ontario

The ride starts on Geneva South Main Street, at the campus of Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

Places of cultural or historical interest are common on this tour, especially in and around the city of Geneva, where you start and finish. Geneva is old - the first-settled city west of Albany. Its South Main Street, laid out in 1796, has been called "the most beautiful old Colonial throughfare outside New England." To the frontier its large homes and quaint row houses brought an air of east coast urbanity. Roads throughout this route get very little traffic - even on weekends in summer. The urban riding is interesting, and the rural riding delightful.
