Big Place

"Big Place" or "Little Place", who knows. For today's traveler in the Finger Lakes every place is a little place.

Does the presence of a school district make a big place? Then what about Spencer and Odessa, tiny places with their own school districts.

How about having a college. Does having a college, as many Finger Lakes places do, make a Big Place"? Well then, how about Aurora, home to Wells College, and only 719 year-round residents.

Along the old Erie Canal route we have several larger places - Geneva, Seneca Falls, and Auburn. The most populous of these is Auburn with a population of 28, 213, probably fewer than the number of people in the Indianapolis airport at 4:00 PM most days.

We have sorted then into Big Place and Little Place as best we can. Comments are welcome.
